Tech Innovation

With growing sectors like cybersecurity, geospatial intelligence and life sciences, the St. Louis region is a national center for technical innovation.

The 200-acre Cortex innovation district serves as an epicenter for the sector. Thus far, 250 companies have settled into the district and $550 million in investments have been made of the $2.3 billion expected.

Venture capital for local tech firms continues to rise, and a plethora of support and training organizations have sprung up to help tech businesses continue to flourish.

Major area tech companies based in the region include World Wide Technology. Since 2011, the company has grown by more than 56 percent to over $11 billion in annual revenue. It also happens to be the nation’s largest Black-owned business. Other companies with major St. Louis operations heavy on technical innovation include MasterCard, Express Scripts, Graybar, Centene and National Information Solutions Cooperative.
